Richard Saunders
Starting his career with Grandmet Trust as a programme coordinator, in 1997 Richard moved to Wiltshire Police where he spent 12 years in a range of roles. During his last five years he was Head of Learning & Development and Regional Collaboration Project Lead for L&D. During this time he led and managed several major change programs including facilitating the redesign of the force policing model. In 2006 he was awarded MA in Human Resource Management with distinction. He successfully completed the Strategic Command Course in Feb 2009, the pre-requisite course for Chief Superintendents prior to taking on ACPO roles. He was one of only 5 Police staff selected to undertake the course that year.
In November 2009 Richard took up the role of HR Director for Bournemouth Borough Council. He led the implementation of the Council ‘Single Status’ review to ensure compliance with equal pay legislation. He also led a number of major organisational change programs and developed a number of key partnerships. In February 2012 he was appointed Director of Strategic Services with a remit that covered Strategic HR, Strategic IT, Partnership Management, Business Change and Research and Information. He also took responsibility as programme director for the Councils £326m Transformation Program. A key aspect of Richard’s work was managing the relationship with one of the Councils key Strategic Partners on the delivery of a range of services.
